The Wife of Noble Character….Pro.31:19-21 Marriage Series

“IN HER HAND SHE HOLDS THE DISTAFF AND GRASPS THE SPINDLE WITH HER FINGERS. SHE OPENS HER ARMS TO THE POOR AND EXTENDS HER HANDS TO THE NEEDY. WHEN IT SNOWS, SHE HAS NO FEAR FOR HER HOUSEHOLD; FOR ALL OF THEM ARE CLOTHED IN SCARLET.” Proverbs 31:19-21

We are back following this wonderful woman of GOD. When we left her last she was being the all around business woman and keeping her body in good shape. She was making serious plans for her family and herself. Now we see that she has continued in that same mode. This woman is making sure that her family has clothing. She is not only making sure that they have clothing but she is making the cloth herself. She wants to be sure that her family has what they need and in the right way. Now I’m not saying that we should go out spin and make cloth or make our families clothing (unless this is something that you like to do) but what I see from this verse is that she oversees everything that’s needed for her family. This is our job ladies. Even if you work outside of the home you must have your home operating in such a way that you know that every member of your family has what he or she needs. The household depends on you to know what’s there and what’s needed. That does not mean that you are a superwoman. You are however the manager of the home. The next verse is one of my favorites. Not only does she take care of her own she seeks to extend her arms and hands to the poor and needy. She makes sure that her home is intact then she goes out and provides what she can for those who can’t take care of themselves. This lady lets us see that we can’t just do for our own. We are the KING’S KIDS we have a job to do. We can’t just sit in our church houses and pretend that nobody exsists. We have been commanded to go to the highways and byways to bring people to CHRIST. What really stands out for me is that she is just as busy as we would ever be and yet she still has time to seek out the poor and needy. She doesn’t just give lip service either just puts works to her faith. We have to all do what our LORD ASKS OF US. Part of this is helping the widows and the poor. As we take the time out to do these things we will be blessed as well. Last but not least because she knows that she has her family fully cared for she is not afraid when bad weather or harmful conditions arise. If there is a storm that comes their way she knows that not only has she provided for ” what if’s” that she has provided the very best. This lady is top of the line all the way. She makes sure that her family has their needs and then some of their wants. In this way this wonderful wife of noble character reminds me of our LORD. HE MAKES SURE WE HAVE WHAT WE NEED AT ALL TIMES. NOT ONLY OUR NEEDS BUT MOST OF THE TIME WE HAVE WHAT WE REALLY WANT. Like this wife of noble character we must not walk in fear. She doesn’t because she has seen to her job in every way. She has placed GOD FIRST, her husband next, her children and those in her household, and the world next. Ladies we have the bar set high for us and now is the time in our lives to live for our LORD. We must study HIS WORD, PRAY, ASK FOR DIRECTION AND THEN BE OBEDIENT TO HIS GUIDANCE. As we continue to study this wonderful wife of noble character we will start adapting her character in our lives. We will be this lady in today’s time and we too will be noted as “THE WIFE OF NOBLE CHARACTER”.

As we study how to become better wives there is no one better than the Proverbs 31 woman. I feel our goal is to attempt to be more like her as she demonstrates GOD’S WAYS FOR WIVES. I don’t however feel that we should strive to be carbon copies of this lady. The thing I feel the most is that we should stay open to the lead of the HOLY SPIRIT AND HE WILL GUIDE US AS WE GROW TO BE THIS WIFE OF NOBLE CHARACTER. As always continue to study and ask questions of this blog group and/or your pastor and leaders. We welcome your comments and questions.
